I started working with Corey, Kathleen, and the York Hill Stables crew in the fall of 2023. I had bumped into Corey at a show at the Ruins when he mentioned he needed some doors fabricated, but first, all the buildings needed to be painted and roofs needed to be sealed.

PAINT PROJECTS

CUSTOM DOORS

Once the paint projects were done it was time to get started on the doors. There were six that split in the middle for the haybarn, a large side door, two for the arena and two for the tack barn, so eleven doors total.

Once the welding was done I would force-patina with salt, vinegar, and a black oil stain. The inner panels are made from tongue and groove charred pine with a urethane sealer.

YHS SIGN

After the doors were done it was time to focus in on the sign for the side of the arena. We worked with Ryan Bahn, the STEM teacher at the high school, and his student / YHS employee, Josie Cordova to laser cut the logo out of fourteen gauge steel.

One incredible perk of working up at York Hill Stables is that I can throw my lunch in a backpack, hop on the electric dirtbike, and in just three or four minutes be up in Post Canyon, looking down on the job site. Thanks to Corey, Kat, Sue, Mariah and everyone at YHS for being so supportive over the last couple years.
